To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Medical science has improved enormously over the last few decades, and as a result, people are living older than ever before. Allied to this, of course, are problems of mobility and dementia, which bring a real need for care for many seniors over the age of eighty years old. Governments should have measures to ensure that these people are taken care of.
It is the responsibility of society to care for disabled, unemployed and homeless people of all ages, and charities strive to receive government aid to provide for these causes. The elderly should be able to receive the same kind of support regardless of their personal revenue earned over a lifetime at work. In my family, three of my grandparents lived into their nineties and spent much of their savings on home aid in their final years.

Each ministry has a budget that can be spent as parliament decides. There is always money available for some projects. Officials never complain they do not have enough money for missiles or the military. Why can a portion of this budget not be redirected to a generation that may well have fought for the freedom of the country in the past? As a taxpayer, I would hope that my contributions go towards helping the generation of my parents in the future.
In conclusion, governments should take responsibility for the care for the elderly. Their role is to look after not only the working generation but all generations, and that includes the retirees.
