In class they can learn a lot from teachers’ elaborate instructions. To listen to teachers in class can do more than to just go over the material in textbooks after class. They draw their students into discussion on different topics. They present opposite points of view. They give students additional information or show documentary films on a subject.
Also. classes on any subject provide more than just facts. Students are taught how to learn. how to get information and then apply what they have learned to other situations. Their teachers are the best ones to help them with these skills. They cannot learn them just by reading textbooks.
By going to class, students can learn how to work with other members of the class. Often. students will be given group assignments. This is different from what they did in secondary school. Here they are with people from different backgrounds and with different experiences. In this situation. they learn how to cooperate with people different from themselves to achieve a common goal.
In short, students can get more than just information from teachers in class. They also learn how to learn, how to work with others, and how to work efficiently. These are not optional skills in life. Therefore, attending classes is not optional, either.
